An adenovirus type F41 outbreak in a pediatric bone marrow transplant unit: analysis of clinical impact and preventive strategies mattner2008adenovirus

Descriptive epidemiologic investigation of an adenovirus cluster affecting 8 pediatric patients associated with a bone marrow transplant/hematology department. Adenovirus DNA was detected in feces and blood; molecular typing was performed by partial sequencing of the hexon gene to distinguish probable nosocomial transmission of HAdV-F41 from endogenous reactivations with HAdV-C1/C2. CSV data provide per-patient qualitative fecal shedding results over time (days after symptom onset).
